Carruth Plaza - Houston
Set in the midst of the 440 acres, which comprise Reliant Park, Carruth Plaza is a safe haven tucked between the Reliant Astrodome and Reliant Stadium. Alongside the “Eighth Wonder of the World”, this meditative park was designed to display the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo’s collection of bronze statues within a harmonious setting. Styled in a Texas vernacular using indigenous planting and natural hardscape materials, the space features a meandering crushed granite path. The pedestrian path way engages circular limestone “chapels” and stone trellis arcades which are used to frame each of the bronzes.
